The award ceremony of The Adi Prize for Jewish Expression in Art and Design, attended by the Minister of Education, Professor Yuli Tamir, was held in December 2006, and the prize was awarded to Mor Arkadir for her creation, “Oil, Water”. Mor’s work is an artistic installation of a still photograph and a short video. The video tells the story of a car traveling along Israel’s roads. The driver is a religiously observant woman traveling with her secular daughter. Throughout their twenty-four hour journey they occasionally stop on the side of the road to deal with engine problems. Concurrent with the driving journey is an ongoing meeting between the mother and her daughter, between the two spiritual worlds – seemingly foreign, between the distant generations and different temperaments.
